PLOS Names New CEO

Alison Mudditt, director of the University of California Press, will become the new chief executive officer of PLOS, the open-access publisher said on Thursday. Mudditt is a veteran of the publishing industry, having worked for companies such as SAGE Publications and Taylor & Francis, among others. At the UC Press, Mudditt oversaw an expansion of open-access initiatives that included the launch of the journal Collabra and monograph publishing program Luminos. At PLOS, Mudditt will be tasked with charting a course forward for the publisher in light of the declining output of its megajournal, PLOS ONE.
