Inside Higher Ed’s 2024 Survey of College and University Chief Academic Officers was conducted by Hanover Research. The survey included 331 provosts from public and private institutions, for a margin of error of 5.04 percent. The survey included questions on the following issues:

  • Mental health
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Campus speech
  • Faculty and staff retention and faculty tenure
  • Course materials and assessment of student learning
  • Institutional effectiveness and change management
