Rick Pitino, the prominent former head men’s basketball coach of the University of Louisville, has settled his breach-of-contract lawsuit with the institution.

Pitino was originally fired from Louisville in 2017 after his program was implicated in the massive pay-for-play scandal revealed by federal officials that year. Pitino sued for $40 million. Under the settlement announced Wednesday, he will not receive any money, but his departure from the university will be considered a resignation, according to The Courier-Journal.
