More than 30 people were injured early Sunday morning when a floor in an off-campus complex near Clemson University collapsed, and attendees at a party fell through what had been the floor. Clemson officials said that they believed about 25 of those injured are students, who are being treated in local hospitals. Injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, but many students have broken bones. Officials are still working to get a definitive count on the number of Clemson students involved.

Collapses of balconies and roofs during off-campus parties have caused injuries at a number of institutions in recent years, including at Trinity College of Connecticut in 2016, California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo in 2015, and Indiana University at Bloomington in 2014.
