Barber-Scotia College, a historically black college in North Carolina that has had a very small enrollment since losing accreditation more than a decade ago, will not operate during the spring semester, The Independent Tribune reported. The newspaper quoted the board chair as saying that Barber-Scotia needs to focus on regaining accreditation (which would make students eligible for federal aid) before resuming classes.
