According to research conducted at Arizona State, we're not the most intelligent species on the planet, after all. At least not if making good choices is a hallmark of intelligence.

The new most intelligent species? Ants. Not individually, but collectively. Limited information, constrained options (ant technology being somewhat less fully developed than ours) and a consistent set of priorities seem to be the primary advantages which allow insects to triumph over mammals.

Which is not to say that humans can't learn to be smarter than ants, just that our current emphases may be misplaced. Or self-limiting. Perhaps by means of climate disruption. Something that would never occur to an ant.
