Stanford University has announced that it has revoked the admission of and kicked out a student linked to the college admissions scandal. A statement from the university said, "We have completed our review [of the student]. We determined that some of the material in the student’s application is false and, in accordance with our policies, have rescinded admission. Any credits earned have also been vacated. The student is no longer on Stanford’s campus."
When the scandal broke, some experts wondered if the colleges involved would have grounds to remove students linked to incidents of alleged bribery. In some cases, prosecutors said, parents acted without knowledge of their children. But colleges pointed out that their applications require applicants to certify the accuracy of the material submitted. So in cases where information was clearly false, a student would be subject to sanctions -- including removal from the college -- for having submitted false information.
Yale University last month revoked the admission of another student linked to the scandal.
