Officials of the University of Maryland at College Park are apologizing for the actions of the three co-captains of the football team, ESPN reported. After scuffles between the Maryland squad and that of Pennsylvania State University before a game on Saturday, the Maryland co-captains refused to shake with their Penn State counterparts in the traditional pre-game moment. Maryland's athletic director, Kevin Anderson, issued a statement saying that "we are extremely disappointed in the actions of our captains involved in today's coin toss. Their behavior is not a reflection of how our student-athletes should conduct themselves in athletic competition."
