The science press release database EurekAlert went off-line on Wednesday after a hacker gained access to the website and leaked embargoed news out of the University of Sussex and the University of Montreal. According to a message on the website, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which runs the website, on Sunday became aware of a Sept. 9 cyberattack that compromised usernames and passwords. Financial information was not stolen, the AAAS said. According to a tweet, EurekAlert planned to run tests Wednesday night and provide an update Thursday morning.
