Times Higher Education (Inside Higher Ed’s parent company), NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and Common Purpose, an online learning platform, today launched a new International Education Professional Certificate (IEPC) program.
The 12-module online course aims to help participants build the skills identified in NAFSA’s International Education Professional Competencies 2.0.
The self-paced course is organized into four parts: decision-making, compliance care, inclusive programs and agile leadership. It was developed by international education experts and designed to support professionals at every stage in their career, from recent graduates to established senior professionals.
Participants will receive a personalized certificate, email signature and social media badge that are valid for two years when they successfully complete the course.
The modules launched today are aimed at professionals with 0 to 3 years’ experience. The group said it plans to develop additional courses for high-potential and senior professionals soon.
Patrick Hayes, THE’s chief development officer, said the course was developed through “extensive engagement with the sector.”
“We have identified the need to develop a course—for international education professionals, by international education professionals—that will provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in this vitally important sector,” he said.
Fanta Aw, NAFSA’s executive director and CEO, said the partnership between the three organizations will benefit institutions, educators and students across the international education sector.
“This is a true collaboration between three deeply committed organizations who are seeking to leverage their collective strengths to develop a transformative initiative that will assist both international education professionals and the students they support,” she said.
