Utah State University has fired four athletics officials in the wake of an external review into the institution’s handling of Title IX complaints, The Cache Valley Daily reported this week.

The officials are Amy Crosbie, executive associate athletics director for internal affairs and senior woman administrator; Blake Anderson, head football coach; Jerry Bovee, associate vice president and deputy athletic director of external affairs; and Austin Albrecht, director of player development and community.

Administrators announced the latter three firings last week, noting that Anderson was terminated “for actions taken in spring 2023,” while Bovee and Albrecht were terminated for “violations of university policies related to the reporting of sexual and domestic violence and failures of professional responsibilities.”

USU would not confirm to the Daily whether Crosbie’s firing was connected to the review.

Through an attorney, Bovee has denied any wrongdoing on his or his colleagues’ part, stating that the incident the announcement referred to was, in fact, properly reported. The statement said he plans to file a grievance with the university. Anderson, too, appears to be planning to fight his termination; he reportedly retained sports attorney Tom Mars to represent him.
