A professor at the University of Notre Dame has sued a student-run publication for defamation over articles it published about her abortion-rights advocacy, the Associated Press reported.

Tamara Kay, a professor of global affairs and sociology, alleges that the student-run Irish Rover misrepresented her views in two articles covering public events at which she spoke in support of abortion rights. The lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages, claims the articles included incorrect quotes and falsely assumed a sign on her door about accessing health care was referring to abortion services.

Kay told the AP that she had asked to have the articles corrected prior to suing.

The Irish Rover filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that the stories were “at least substantially true.”
