The Online Learning Consortium unveiled its annual Digital Learning Innovation Award honorees during its yearly Accelerate conference earlier this month in Orlando, Fla.
Three institutions took home top prizes, all for improving math courses. Arizona State University and the University of Central Florida earned plaudits for using adaptive courseware to improve student success in gateway math courses, while Salt Lake Community College was honored for striving toward similar goals using OER.
Ten teams of faculty members earned the consortium's "faculty-led team" honors.
- Bay Path University: adaptive learning and OER serving low-income and diverse population of adult female students
- Bossier Parish Community College: OER and gamification for mobile delivery of learning applications
- Georgia State University: adaptive learning for large-section introductory courses
- Ivy Tech Community College: narrative-based online science course
- Mohave Community College: narrative-based online science course
- Norfolk State University: accessible and affordable digital learning environment for first-generation students
- Portland Community College: open resources for math courses
- Portland State University: active and adaptive learning in statistics courses
- University of Florida's UF Online: at-home data physics labs for online students
- University of Mississippi: personalized learning and OER in first-year composition courses
