Peter Jan Sartorio was sentenced to one year of probation, 250 hours of community service and a fine of $9,500 Friday, but no jail time for his role in the admissions scandal.

Sartorio was the first of seven parents to not receive jail time. Other sentences have ranged from two weeks to five months.

He is believed to have received a lighter sentence than the other parents because he was the first to plead guilty and because he paid a relatively small sum ($15,000) for his daughter to have an inflated ACT score.

The stiffest sentence thus far has been for Agustin Huneeus Jr., a Napa Valley vintner, who received a sentence of five months in prison, a fine of $100,000 and 500 hours of community service.

Of the parents who have pled guilty, Huneeus is the only one (so far) to have admitted to both arranging for falsified SAT scores and pretending that his daughter was an athlete.
