Students at North Carolina A&T State University will be provided free textbooks for the next two academic years starting in fall 2021. The institution announced Thursday that it is buying all course materials for undergraduates using federal stimulus relief funds.
Each student will save more than $1,000 in textbook costs per year, Robert Pompey, vice chancellor for business and finance, said in a press release.
“This program will help alleviate financial pressures often associated with pursuing higher education for many students, especially first-generation students and those with limited financial resources,” Beryl McEwen, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, said in the press release. “Our undergraduates will begin the academic year with an added layer of confidence and be able to focus on their studies without the worry of textbook costs.”
