The Midwest Political Science Association said Tuesday that it had accepted the immediate resignation of William Jacoby as editor of its flagship publication, the American Journal of Political Science. Jacoby, a professor of political science at Michigan State University, previously planned to edit the journal through the end of the year amid sexual harassment allegations. But last week the association called an emergency meeting of its governing council to discuss the situation, after Jacoby used the main webpage of the journal to deny the allegations against him. The journal is on a “temporary hiatus” as the association secures an interim editorial team. No new manuscripts will be accepted. The association said it hopes to reopen the journal within a month. Jacoby said last week that he could not comment in detail on the allegations, which are currently being investigated.
