A new proposal in the U.S. Senate would require recipients of federal research grants to publish their findings online, free, within six months of publication in journals, The Washington Post reported.
Brandeis University is facing criticism for pulling an exhibit of Palestinian art from the library four days into what was to have been a two-week showing, The Boston Globe reported. University officials said that the exhibit portrayed only one side of the conflict, but critics say that Brandeis is engaged in censorship.
Authorities on Wednesday arrested a University of Maryland at College Park student and charged him with murder and arson in last year's death of another student in an off-campus house, The Washington Post reported. The Post said that the arrested student was believed to have exchanged angry words with people at a party at the house he allegedly set on fire.
Two groups of libraries -- the OCLC Online Computer LIbrary Center and the Research Library Group -- plan to merge and to combine their catalogs.
