A vote that was scheduled for this week on whether resident advisers at George Washington University should be unionized has been called off. A ruling last month by a regional office of the National Labor Relations Board cleared the way for a union election, against the wishes of the university and many higher education groups. But on Tuesday, the NLRB granted a request from the Service Employees International Union, which is seeking to represent the GW RAs, to call off the vote. It is unclear why the SEIU did so. The university issued a statement that it was "pleased" that the vote had been called off.
