The board of the Peralta Community College District last week approved a plan for early retirement for Chancellor Jowel Laguerre, whose contract was supposed to run through 2020, The Mercury News reported. Laguerre, who did not comment, will leave March 1. He has been the subject of criticism from faculty leaders and local watchdogs, in particular as the district saw enrollment drops.
