Black students at the College of Charleston are planning to walk out of classes today to protest a racist video believed to feature students from the college making racist statements and joking about slavery. The video had been circulating at the college, and students posted it to Twitter to demand more of a response from the college.

Interim president Stephen C. Osborne issued a letter to the campus Thursday in which he said in part, "This week, I learned of a social media video that was deeply offensive and featured racist statements that made light of our country’s historical wrongs regarding slavery. These disturbing comments run completely counter to our core values of integrity, respect for the individual student, diversity and community. The college’s Division of Student Affairs is investigating this incident and is taking appropriate action in accordance with the college’s Student Code of Conduct."
