Britain’s education minister, Michelle Donelan, is investigating a $189 million gift to the University of Oxford, the BBC reported.

Concerns have been raised in the House of Commons over the gift to Oxford’s Linacre College by the SOVICO Group, a Vietnamese company. The college plans to change its name to Thao College following a first gift of about a third of the total. The gift would be in honor of Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, SOVICO’s chair.

A Linacre spokesperson said it has already taken steps to assure the donations will be “in line with government guidance and laws.”
