Hudson Valley Community College has fired President Roger Ramsammy “with cause” following a human resources complaint that was filed against him in May, the Board of Trustees announced.

Ramsammy had been on administrative leave since May. And while the HVCC board statement did not specify the nature of the complaint that led to the president’s termination, local media reported last month that a sexual harassment complaint had been filed against him.

HVCC board chair Neil Kelleher referenced the human resources complaint in a statement Tuesday but said, “The college remains unable to share specific details of that complaint due to the confidentiality and privacy requirements of ongoing personnel and legal matters.”

Ramsammy was hired as president of HVCC in 2018 after leading Miami Dade College for two years and holding administrative positions at other community colleges. Contacted via LinkedIn, Ramsammy did not respond to a request for comment.

HVCC has tapped recently retired former HVCC administrator Louis Coplin as interim president.
