  • Cooper Union: Malcolm Gladwell, the author.
  • Lehman College of the City University of New York: Billy Collins, former U.S. poet laureate.
  • Marquette University: David McCullough, the biographer.
  • Mills College: Beate Sirota Gordon, pioneer for women's rights.
  • Prince George's Community College: Rushern L. Baker III, the county executive.
  • Randolph-Macon College: James (Bud) Robertson Jr., executive director of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies, at Virginia Tech.
  • Southern Methodist University: U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas.
