  • A University of Vermont anthropology professor, James Petersen, was shot and killed Saturday while being robbed in a small town near the Amazon River in Brazil, the Associated Press reported. Petersen, chair of Vermont's anthropology department, was doing research in a town 1,650 miles northwest of Sao Paulo.
  • Federal authorities raided properties in Idaho and Washington State last week as part of investigations into alleged diploma mills  known as Saint Regis University  and James Monroe University,  according to the AP.
