Jury selection started Monday in the trial of Sami Al-Arian, a former professor at the University of South Florida who is facing dozens of federal charges of helping terrorist groups, reported The Tampa Tribune. Al-Arian's dismissal followed intense controversy at South Florida, with his supporters saying that the university violated his due process rights. Al-Arian denies supporting terrorists or breaking the law.
Some key Wisconsin legislators want to explore ways for the University of Wisconsin-Superior and the University of Minnesota at Duluth to cooperate on academic programs as a way of cutting costs. But an article in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel suggests that campus support for the idea is lukewarm.
