  • Voters in Southwestern Michigan College's district on Tuesday rejected a tax increase that would have increased support for the two-year institution, The Kalamazoo Gazette reported. College officials had said that they needed the increase because of cuts in state support.
  • Student protesters left the president's office at the University of Hawaii after the interim president pledged to have more discussions of a proposed Navy research center at the Manoa campus, according to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
