But the inquiry also found that Tribe's error was not intentional. Tribe has apologized for the mistake.
  • The Iowa Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday that a former postdoctoral fellow should have his day in court over charges that Iowa State University discriminated against him when it ordered him off campus. Hadi Tabarra, who is from Lebanon, said that the university incorrectly thought he was dangerous and was making a bomb. The university has denied that it discriminated against him. The appeals court ruling said that there was enough evidence to warrant a trial, but it did not rule on the merits of the case.
  • California State University at Chico has announced new standards for the Greek system, and the president said that he will not hesitate to evict houses that do not abide by the rules. The new rules follow the hazing death of a student and the involvement of a fraternity in making a pornographic film. The San Francisco Chronicle quoted Paul Zingg, the president, telling students: "To the extent that you are now, you will no longer be drinking clubs masquerading as fraternities and sororities."
  • West Virginia University said Thursday that it had expelled 11 students and punished who were found to have broken laws by setting fires or engaging in other destructive behavior after two NCAA tournament victoriesby the university's basketball team last month.
