Israeli officials have announced plans to create a new university in the Galilee, according to Ha'aretz. The new university will bring together several colleges in the region, and is being financed in part with a $100 million gift from Arnon Milchan, the Israeli-born Hollywood producer.
Chinese officials are cracking down on a popular university Web site, the Associated Press reports. The government is limiting who can have access to the site, which has featured numerous debates on politics and society.
A university in Korea has renewed the national debate over collaboration with the Japanese by releasing a list of 10 academics who supported Japan's colonial policies in Korea from 1910 to 1945, according to The Korea Times. All of the professors are now dead.
Scottish politicians are angry at the University of Cambridge for its policy of barring students from wearing kilts when they graduate. The BBC reports that pressure is growing on the university to be more flexible.
