  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday that that it has proposed a $171,050 fine against Plymouth State University, for violating federal and state hazardous waste laws. The proposed penalty stems from improperly stored hazardous waste, among other problems identified during an EPA inspection of the campus in June 2003.
  • The dean of administration at the College of the Ozarks has resigned, a year after he was enmeshed in a controversy involving the legitimacy of his doctoral degree, the News-Leader of Springfield, Mo., reported Thursday. College officials declined to comment on the resignation of Larry Cockrum, the newspaper reported.
