Thomas Minar, the ex-president of Franklin College, in Indiana, received a sentence of six years in prison and six years of extended supervision in a Wisconsin court on Monday, The Statehouse File reported.
Minar pleaded no contest to one count of child enticement and three counts of possession of child pornography in March.
Police arrested Minar at his vacation home in Door County, Wis., on Jan. 6, 2020, after he used a mobile dating app to arrange a meeting with a police officer who was posing as a 15-year-old boy.
At his sentencing hearing, his lawyers cited the difficulties of being president of Franklin as one reason for his behavior.
“As said previously, since Thomas Minar’s termination more than two years ago, Franklin College has maintained its focus on delivering the quality education that leads to the personal and academic success of our students,” a statement from the college said. “Franklin is thriving from every perspective as we continue to prepare our students for productive careers and fulfilling lives.”
