A new report from Blackboard suggests that students at risk of not continuing their education expressed less satisfaction with support services at their institutions. In a survey of 2,100 students, slightly more than half the total said they were satisfied with the level of support they received during COVID-19. Thirty-eight percent said that support actually improved during the COVID-19 crisis.

But at-risk populations were less likely than their peers to believe their institution cares about them and expressed less confidence that their support needs would be met. At-risk students were roughly half as likely as their peers to feel confident that they could find academic or advising support. At-risk students were also more likely to prefer automated services like chat bots and phone menus compared to other groups. Nearly 80 percent of at-risk students said they believe their school can or might be able to provide support to change their mind regarding enrollment.
