New York University, which has a medical school in Manhattan, is planning to open a second one, on Long Island. The new medical school will offer degrees in three years and, like the existing medical school, will not charge tuition. The first class, to be admitted this summer, will have 24 students, eventually growing to 40 students per class. The most recent class at NYU's medical school in Manhattan had 104 students.
