Inside Higher Ed Hires 2 New Reporters

Jack Stripling and Andrew David Moltz Join Growing Editorial Team

Washington, D.C., June 20, 2008 — Inside Higher Ed has hired Jack Stripling, an experienced higher education reporter who has covered the University of Florida and Auburn Universities for local newspapers, and David Moltz, who has reported for daily and weekly print publications and for radio, to join its growing editorial team.

Stripling comes to Inside Higher Ed directly from The Gainesville Sun, a New York Times newspaper, where he broke stories about the dean’s involvement in the admission of a politically connected student to the University of Florida’s business school and covered such events as the tasing of a student there. He won a National Award for Education Reporting in 2004 from the Education Writers Association. Before that, he covered major issues involving governance and accreditation at Auburn for the Opelika-Auburn News. He has a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a master’s in English literature from Auburn, and taught English at Auburn and Santa Fe Community College. Moltz joins Inside Higher Ed from C-Ville Weekly, a weekly publication in Charlottesville, Va. He previously covered the University of Virginia for multiple campus outlets, including The Cavalier Daily and WTJU-FM. He also played host to a weekly show for the station dedicated to independent rock music. He graduated with a B.A. from UVa.
