David Ho is vice president of Content Strategy and Innovation at Inside Higher Ed. He is also a senior editor overseeing technology news. He guides the evolution of the news organization's website and digital platforms, including a current focus on artificial intelligence.
A national journalist for nearly 30 years, David previously served as executive editor and vice president for digital at Hearst Newspapers. He also was executive mobile editor and mobile product director at The Wall Street Journal, where he built the WSJ mobile editorial team, wrote its mobile content algorithms and founded its family of news apps. For 15 years, David has focused on bringing news to mobile and creating storytelling technology and techniques for phones, tablets and emerging devices. He is (arguably) the world's most experienced editor and newsroom leader for mobile platforms. He has taught mobile and digital skills to more than 4,700 journalists around the world and has worked on the digital transformation of newsrooms.
As a national reporter for The Associated Press and the Cox News Service, David’s coverage ranged from the White House, the United Nations and the pope to tech, telecom and terrorism. The U.S. Supreme Court cited David’s reporting in the historic Bush v. Gore ruling on the 2000 presidential election. Earlier, David was one of the three original web developers writing code for WSJ.com.
David also is a news writing/editing fellow and a journalism ethics fellow of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. He has taught journalism at Poynter, the City University of New York, the Media Institute of the Caribbean and the Norwegian Institute of Journalism.
